Useful information for travelling with Lufthansa
Hand luggage: Like all airlines, Lufthansa offers its travellers the possibility of taking a hand luggage, a cabin suitcase, a cane-type pram or a foldable clothes bag.
In economy and premium economy class, each passenger is allowed one piece of hand luggage of up to 8kg.
For business class or first class 2 pieces of luggage per person of maximum 8kg each will be accepted for each passenger. As a comparison, an airfrance suitcase is limited to a weight of 23 kg, 10 kg for a Ryanair suitcase (extra charge), 40 x 30 x 20 cm for a transavia suitcase, 10 kg for a vueling cabin suitcase, 23 kg for an iberia suitcase.
Hold baggage: For hold baggage, the weight and size regulations are the same for all standard airlines. Baggage must not exceed 23kg and a maximum size of 158cm (height x width x depth). Your baggage will be weighed when you check in at the airport and excess baggage charges may apply if these rules are not met.
Please note that the maximum weight for checked baggage is 32kg, any baggage over this weight will not be accepted at check-in, however it may be shipped by air freight. Transporting sports equipment: With Lufthansa it is possible to transport bulky sports equipment (surfing, golf clubs, kitesurfing, windsurfing, etc.) on your trip, but you will be asked to put your name and mobile phone number on your equipment.
Please note that your sports equipment must not exceed a height of 315cm and a total weight of 32kg. Additional transport charges may be levied at check-in.
